The first stop is the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, where the main exhibition hall showcases the four primary crafts that shaped Egyptian civilization: pottery, wood, textiles, and ornaments. Marvel at the world’s oldest prosthetic toe, a 30,000-year-old human skeleton, the last Kaaba Cover (Kiswaa Al Kaaba) made in Egypt during Nasser’s presidency, and the Mahmal, a ceremonial litter used to transport the Kaaba Cover from Egypt to Saudi Arabia annually. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to see the Kaaba key, an ancient clepsydra (water clock), and the royal mummies that were recently relocated from the Egyptian Museum in a grand parade.

Next, you’ll proceed to the Citadel of Salah El-Din and visit the Alabaster Mosque of Mohamed Ali Pasha.

The tour continues to Old Cairo, also known as Christian Coptic Cairo, an area of profound spiritual significance for the Holy Family. Here, you can explore the Church of Abu Sergah, St. Barbara, the Hanging Church, and the Ben Ezra Synagogue, once a prominent Jewish place of worship.

Cairo Through the Ages: Mummies, Mosques, and More

What a great day exploring Cairo's history! This tour packs in so much. We started at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization. The mummies were the highlight - it's amazing to see these ancient kings and queens up close. The museum is modern and well-organized, making it easy to learn about Egypt's long history. Next, we visited the Citadel of Salah El-Din. The views of Cairo from up there are breathtaking! The Muhammad Ali Mosque inside is beautiful, with its huge dome and tall minarets. Our guide explained its importance in Egyptian history. Old Cairo was our last stop. We walked through narrow streets and visited ancient churches and a synagogue. It felt like stepping back in time. The mix of different religions in one area was really interesting. Our guide knew so much and answered all our questions. They made the history come alive with their stories. The air-conditioned car was comfortable for getting around the city. This tour is perfect if you want to see different sides of Cairo - from ancient Egypt to Islamic history to modern times. It's a full day, but well worth it!
