“Banana Island” on the banks of the Nile River in the West Bank, a distinctive island created by the charming nature with slight interventions by the hands of the people of Luxor to represent a kingdom of magic, tranquility and mental clarity for visitors from Egyptian and foreign tourists who flock to it in different seasons of the year to enjoy the picturesque scenes, greenery and the magic of the Nile River mingling with the large banana trees, which are considered the most important charming sites to receive tourists to rest inside, spend a pleasant time, take picturesque natural photos and eat various fruits and drinks in the heart of nature. Banana Island, on the West Bank of Luxor Governorate, is a destination for foreign and Egyptian tourists, as well as Luxor residents, who visit to enjoy the charming natural rural atmosphere inside it, as it is located on the banks of the Nile River. They can be reached by Nile boats that take them on a magical and beautiful journey to visit the island and stay inside it for a few hours, during which tourists take souvenir photos. Tourist guides invite all tourist groups they accompany to enjoy inside Banana Island, to break the archaeological visit to the temples and museums and relax a little inside it. For his part, Hajj Walaa Skar, one of the officials at Banana Island, said that the area of ​​”Banana Island” is about five acres and is filled with wonderful banana trees, in addition to palm trees that characterize the agricultural nature of Luxor Governorate. There are also fig and guava trees inside it, and other fruits that are offered to tourists and visitors from Luxor. The middle of the island is furnished with chairs and sofas made of tree branches for sitting on, and there is also an old “waterwheel” to add the magic of agricultural nature and for visitors to take pictures in it. There is an animal corner on the island that contains crocodiles, monkeys, foxes and turtles, with which tourist groups take souvenir photos. The crocodiles are raised, there are 3 crocodiles, one large and two small, and they are fed fresh fish and large chicks. They are also served with daily cleaning of the aquarium to prevent algae from forming. He explained that the crocodiles do not eat in January, February and March and hibernate and eat the fat under their skin. In April, they start eating. The Banana Island official confirmed that they have a family of monkeys, consisting of a mother, father and two young ones. Their food consists of bananas, vegetables and fruits. There is also the oldest lemon tree on the island with a strong, distinctive smell, and a local fig tree that is served to visitors. There are also white grape trees and cubes and black grapes that are served to tourists when they are ripe. There is also an old waterwheel that dates back decades, and a pigeon tower. He explained that there are many different fruit trees on the island, mainly grapes, mulberries, figs and bananas. There are also some animals inside it in an area equipped in the Nubian style on the island. There is a restaurant and a small café that serves all kinds of traditional Upper Egyptian foods and various drinks for everyone, as this place has unparalleled beauty as it is crowded with banana and palm trees on the western bank of the Nile and has an irresistible charm.
